How to Add a New User
The Users Add New Screen allows you to add new users who can login to your site. If you want to add a new person to help you updating your site is STRONGLY recommended you create a new user rather than giving them your username and password.
Instructions
- From your WordPress Menu go to Users > All Users
- The User Manager screen will be presented to you.
- Click on Add New button at the top of the page
- The Add New User screen is open
- In Username (required) enter a name for the new user. This will be the username to login to the site.
- In E-mail (required) enter an email address for this user.
- In Password section, WordPress will automatically generate a password for you. If you wish to set your own password, click the Show Password button as seen in the previous screenshot. You can then enter your new password as desired.
- This are the basic information you need to enter, you can add more info as First and Last name, Website if required.
- Click on Add New User button to create your New User.
How to Delete a User
Instructions
- From your WordPress Menu go to Users > All Users
- The User Manager screen will be presented to you.
- Locate the user you want to delete from the list of users in the screen. When you hover over the Edit and Delete links will appear below the username.
- Click on Delete to delete the user
- Once you click on Delete, a confirmation screen will ask you to assign all post (work done by this user on the site) to another user. In this case we will assign this to the seekom user. Select any of your users from the drop down menu.
- Click Confirm Deletion.
How to Edit a User
Instructions
- From your WordPress Menu go to Users > All Users
The User Manager screen will be presented to you. - Locate the user you want to delete from the list of users in the screen. When you hover over the Edit and Delete links will appear below the username.
- Click on Edit to modify the user info.
- Once you click on Edit, the Edit User screen will open. Change all the information you need.
note: The username cannot be changed. If you really need to change a username you may need to create a new user instead. - Click Update User at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.
