As a standard we set websites up to deny the public from being able to register themselves as a user of your website and make updates. If this setting is changed you are vulnerable to your website content being compromised and potentially being locked out of updating your own website.

Below are instructions to check that you have not enabled self registration of users and amend if required.

  • Log into WordPress administration
  • From the General Settings menu group, select Site Title / URL
  • Make sure that the ‘Membership‘ field is not checked

If it is checked, un check it, scroll down and click save. Please then contact us to check that your site is not compromised in any way – bogus content, users, etc.
